Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted his 92nd Mann Ki Baat radio programme at 11 am on Sunday (August 28).
Modi said, “We saw innovative ideas coming forwards in the Tiranga Campaign. Like we saw Indians coming forward in Swachata Abhiyan and Vaccination campaign, in the similar way we saw Indians coming together in the Tiranga campaign.”
Modi gave instances of how people across the country and worldwide celebrated India’s 75th Independence Day.
Modi said Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav will continue until August 2023.
Speaking about Water conservation, Modi said that he had talked about ‘Amrit Maotsav’ four months ago and villages and towns have built Amrit Sarovar to conserve water in various ways. He also added that Amrit Sarovars have been instilled in Warangal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka.
“Amrit Sarovars are being utilised for animals to drink water and also by farmers to water crops.”
Speaking about fighting malnutrition across the country. Modi said states like Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Assam have run campaigns to fight malnutrition.
Modi urged people to work towards removing malnutrition and said that September should be looked at as Nutrition month.
Modi also talked about 2023 being the International Year of Millets and said, “Since ancient times, millets have been a very important part of our culture.” He also urged farmers to grow millets and benefit from them.
“I am very happy to see startups today are making food products from millets including millets dosa, energy bars and various snacks.”
Modi also talked about how the internet has become an essential component of the “new India”. Speaking about the power of digital India, Modi gave examples of how people have utilised the internet in villages to bring a change in the way they conduct businesses. Modi said the internet has also helped students in completing their education.
In his last Mann Ki Baat on July 31, Modi congratulated Indian sportspersons for performing “exceptionally well” at several international events and said July has been full of action when it comes to sports. Ace shuttler P V Sindhu won her first title of Singapore Open while Neeraj Chopra also continued his excellent performance and won the silver medal for the country in the World Athletics Championship, he said.
Speaking about the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ as India completed 75 years of Independence, Modi added, that Indians should follow their duty with full devotion and termed the next 25 years of Amrit Kaal as “Kartavyakaal” – an age of duty for every citizen. “Only then will we be able to fulfill the dream of those countless freedom fighters and to build the India of their dreams,” he said.
Earlier this week, the Prime Minister called for innovative ideas and suggestions to speak in his August address.
